Commercial Development

Robertson Ward has extensive International exposure in the field of commercial banking development within the Caribbean. Our client base includes ‘household’ names in the banking industry such as Lloyds Bank International Limited, the Bank of Nova Scotia, the Royal Bank of Canada and the Royal Bank of Canada International Limited, Barclays Bank, Gottardo International Limited and the Vatican Bank (Banco Ambrosiana). We have completed multiple projects for a number of the Banks, principally within the Bahamas and Barbados, with additional projects completed in Cayman and St. Martin.

Other major mixed projects include the American Life Insurance Company Headquarters, the DaCosta Shopping Mall, the Government Forensic Science Laboratories and the Belleplain Community Centre all in Barbados, as well as the Caribbean Alliance Building in Antigua and the Plaza del Lago Shopping Centre in St. Maarten.

Robertson Ward has been instrumental in designing industrial developments such as the Commonwealth Brewery Limited (Heineken) 100,000 SF brewery and the adjoining Todhunter Mitchell Distillery in the Bahamas, as well as Biwater International’s joint venture proposal with the Bahamas Water and Sewerage Corporation to produce 8 million gallons of potable water per day, in the Bahamas. The Barbados office also designed a number of Milk Plants and Dairies in Barbados, St. Lucia and Antigua.

The Barbados office master‐planned the Barbados Flight Kitchen for the Marriott Corporation, and the Nassau office prepared a phased master redevelopment plan for the Bahamas Electricity Corporation’s (BEC) plant at the 15 acre Big Pond site in Nassau, including the construction of a 65,000 SF multi‐purpose building as part of Phase 1.
